Launched in 2016, JJ Malibu is a Toronto based brand geared towards the LGBTQ+ community. We want everyone in the community to be proud of themselves. We do this by providing affordable, sexy and fun outfits to wear for any occasion. Originally known for our funky tank top designs JJ Malibu is becoming a fun affordable global lifestyle brand and is disrupting the queer clothing industry by encouraging confidence and striving towards inclusivity all while maintaining affordable prices.
JJ Malibu Birthday Wishes
We wish for Equality and Understanding. The LGBTQ+ Community has fought for equal rights over decades and still, faces discrimination for expressing love for each other time and time again it is important that we keep each other accountable in order to understand intersectionality and the ways that we may be contributing to inequality for others. Equality really comes down to the practice of listening to others and their stories instead of judging and commenting on what you think you know. Make people feel comfortable enough to talk to you and discuss what is actually true and disregard the hearsay.
We wish for another year towards Inclusivity. A world in which everyone can be their true self without fear of shame, judgment, or ridicule! Regardless of societal pressures and personal prejudice people will be able to remain kind and impartial. A world where people are not only talking to each other through an app but also checking in with each other and being supportive, a place that is welcoming and warm.
We wish for Respect within our community. And in the famous words of our darling, late Aretha Franklin “R-E-S-P-E-C-T Find out what it means to me” Everyone is going through it, nobody has a perfect life and recognizing this will bring you to realize that your feelings and your issues do not come above anyone else's. Holding a considerate space in your mind for others and what they may be going through is a fundamental starting point for respecting others.
